PASSPORT TO TEXAS is an award-winning, weekday 90-second radio series about the Texas Outdoors. The program features interviews with experts on everything from birding and biking to wildlife management and habitat restoration. The radio series is heard on approximately 100 Texas radio stations and over the Internet via RealAudio®.

With Joel Block as our guide, we visit state parks and historic sites, talk with biologists and outdoor specialists, and offer tips on everything from birdwatching to designing your own backyard wildscape. Because many of our topics focus on wildlife and nature conservation, listeners from around the world enjoy the diversity of PASSPORT TO TEXAS.

About Us . . .

PASSPORT TO TEXAS debuted on Texas radio in January 1996 and has been accessible over the Internet since January 1997. Since September 2001, the series has been produced by Texas Parks & Wildlife at The Production Block Studios in Austin, Texas. Its funders include The Dow Chemical Company, the Sport Fish and Wildlife Restoration Program in Texas and Texas Parks & Wildlife. Kathleen Jenkins - Producer, 1996 to 2001, KJ Productions

Independent producer Kathleen Jenkins of KJ Productions created the PASSPORT TO TEXAS Radio Series for Texas Parks & Wildlife in January 1996 and served as its producer until September 2001. During her tenure she produced nearly 1500 programs for Passport to Texas. Jenkins' previous radio series include three Texas History radio series - "The 1986 Texas Music Chronicles," "The 1989 Capital City Chronicles," "The 1992 Corpus Christi Chronicles," and Texas Monthly Magazine's "Around the State" radio series. (Portfolio.) For her work, Jenkins has received numerous local, state and national awards. She handed the PASSPORT TO TEXAS Radio Series over to TPWD in the Fall of 2001 to start a new audio production company - audioeclips. Her newest media project is TEXAS STORIES - an Texas History Audio series, web site and online newsletter about people, places and events that have shaped the history of Texas.

Joel Block - Host

Joel Block has more than twenty-eight years experience as a voice talent and audio engineer. For fourteen years, he hosted and engineered Star Date, a nationally-acclaimed astronomy series of The University of Texas McDonald Observatory. Since 1991, he has co-hosted and engineered the radio science series Earth & Sky. Block is co-owner of The Production Block Studios in Austin, Texas, where PASSPORT TO TEXAS is recorded, mixed and duplicated.

Donna Endres - Affiliate/Public Relations

Syndicator and producer, Donna Endres began her radio career ten years ago with the nationally-syndicated Star Date series. She later joined Deborah Byrd and Joel Block to launch Earth & Sky and become its associate producer. Using her marketing/syndication plan, Earth & Sky's affiliate base grew to exceed 600 stations. For the BBC, she developed a U.S. syndication plan for Traveling Folk, a Radio Scotland production. Endres, who also operates her own thriving, direct import tribal rug business, joined PASSPORT TO TEXAS in February 1997.
